Marcel Hirscher leaves the races: "Mission accomplished"

A lot has been said, even more has been hypothesized and now the wait is over: Marcel Hirscher ends his career on the slopes. At just 30, the Austrian skier has retired. At a long-awaited press conference in his hometown of Salzburg, Hirscher spoke to the assembled journalists: "I always wanted to say goodbye to skiing when I was still winning. Today is the day when my career ends.” The athlete ends his extraordinary sporting career, full of great achievements, the result of years of quality training.
Marcel Hirscher has been a Technogym Ambassador since the summer of 2016. He has tested and trained his potential on products designed specifically to improve athletic performance and created in collaboration with the greatest Olympic champions.

As the Official Supplier of the last seven editions of the Olympic Games and a partner to the world's leading teams and athletes, Technogym has acquired direct experience in the field of training techniques and methods for thousands of athletes from over 100 different disciplines, establishing it as a brand of reference for elite sports.

The solutions are designed and perfected according to the needs of the teams and for various types of training: cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and rehabilitation, essential for the athletic preparation of the crew, including the innovative SKILL LINE created thanks to the experience of Technogym as Official Supplier of the last seven Olympics.
The SKILL LINE includes SKILLRUN, the first treadmill that combines cardio and power training in a single solution, designed to meet the training needs of both elite athletes and fitness enthusiasts; SKILLBIKE, the revolutionary bike that allows cyclists, triathletes and cycling enthusiasts to experience the excitement and challenge of outdoor experiences in an indoor environment; SKILLROW, the first fully connected indoor rower that allows athletes to perform both cardio and power training and SKILLMILL, the only non-motorized treadmill developed by Technogym for athletic performance.

A career always at the top

Since his youth Hirscher has attracted attention with his excellent performances: coached by his father Ferdinando, after triumphing in his youth he began a rapid rise. Junior World Champion 2007 and 2008, overall winner of the European Cup 2007/08, debut in the World Cup on 17 March 2007. This will be followed by 67 World Cup victories in the next 12 years - the first on 13 December 2009 and the last on 29 January 2019. Eight consecutive World Cup victories, seven world titles, two Olympic gold medals and many other triumphs have made Hirscher immortal.
Other titles include 13 World Cup victories in a season, 14 victories in a calendar year, Gold Medal at four consecutive World Championships, on average 81 points per race in a season, 20 World Cup Crystal Balls. The skier from Salzburg triumphed in nine World Cup locations: Adelboden, Alta Badia, Val d'Isere, Kranjska Gora, Zagreb, Schladming, Levi, Bansko, Moscow. An important new chapter for ski champion Marcel Hirscher begins.

It's a decision made for many reasons. I am aware that it is not just a change of profession, it is a part of life that ends.
