After earning his degree at the University of Bologna Medical School in 1981, Dr. Massarini completed his specialization in Sport Medicine at the University of Pavia in 1985. Between 1985 and 1992 he was a team doctor for various professional sports, including cycling, skiing, and sailing, and even participated in two America’s Cup campaigns.
Technogym Medical Director
In 1992, he joined Technogym as Medical Director. In this role, he has contributed to the development of innovative exercise and rehabilitation equipment, as well as a comprehensive educational program, even organizing over 150 seminars on the following topics: functional assessment, cardio training, strength training, sport specific training, senior training, weight control programs, and exercise during pregnancy.
He has published numerous works on exercise physiology. From 2002 to 2003, he served as a member of the Emilia-Romagna Medical Commission, where he promoted health plans to increase physical activity among the local population.
Vitalia Reference Center
Dr. Massarini is an active sportsman himself, and in 2004 he founded the innovative Vitalia Medical Center in Turin. The center is mainly focused upon health screening and exercise therapy as applied to cardiovascular, metabolic, and orthopedic pathologies. The Vitalia center is also a reference point for amateur athletes involved in skiing, triathlon, running and cycling throughout northwestern Italy. Dr. Massarini has also developed an innovative health screening procedure for corporate employees, with the aim of promoting exercise and proper nutrition.
