Functional Training

Functional training can be done anywhere, anytime and is effective in achieving a whole body workout. Exercises include movements our bodies are born to do such as running and squatting. You can make your workout more challenging  by adding resistance through the use of weights. “Technogym Chromed Dumbbells make the perfect addition to your home workout,” explains Technogym Master Trainer Steve Harrison. “Working out at home can be as effective as going to the gym. All you need is a set of free weights if you want to take your workout to the next level.”

Technogym top tip #1: Squat-to-press

Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, toes slightly turned out. Hold the dumbbells at shoulder height, with your palms facing forward. Lower down into a squat, keeping your chest up. As you raise back to start position, extend your arms above your head.

Concentrate on your Core

Other than toning our tummies, developing core strength provides major physical health benefits including improving posture and strengthening the spine. Technogym’s Active Wellness Ball optimises the time you spend sitting by working your core, trunk and back muscles. A QR code on the handle gives you instant access to a health questionnaire, suggested exercises, and synchronises with your Outlook calendar to automate regular exercise reminders.

Technogym Top Tip #2: Leg curls:

Lay on your back and place your lower legs on the ball. Raise your hips up off the floor, so that your hips and lower back are in line. Roll the ball in towards your body, then extend your legs out. Activate your abdominals throughout to maintain balance and ensure your hips don’t drop.

Achieve a Runner’s High

Following a tailored running program will not only help you acheive your running goals but will improve your overall speed and distance! The revolutionary Technogym MyRun treadmill will transform the way you run. The MyRun app, which connects to the treadmill through your iPad, has gait analysis which allows you to track your foot displacement, stride length and pattern to improve your technique and performance. MyRun is the ideal solution for your home gym as it has one of the largest running surfaces, yet takes up minimal space. It’s the ultimate running experience, as it selects music from your iTunes, matching your pace to the tempo of the music to help keep you motivated.

Technogym Top Tip #3: Speed Shift

If you are looking to do interval training on the treadmill at the gym, give the Technogym Speed Shift a go. This function allows you to seamlessly jump from one tempo to another with the push of a lever on the award winning ARTIS range.

Pump it up with resistance training

Master Trainer, Steve also recommends challenging yourself by exploring new territories with your exercises. “Continuously challenging your body in different ways will stimulate new adaptations, help you get stronger and stay motivated,” explains Steve. “Strength training is effective in developing not only muscular make-up but also will have fantastic benefits to help keep your bones strong.” The Technogym Kinesis is equipped with patented FullGravity technology, which allows for seamless resistance across all planes of movement. You can carry out a limitless number of exercises to improve balance, core, coordination and muscle strength, all on a single piece of equipment.

Technogym Top Tip #4: Chest Press:

Holding onto the handles, stand facing away from the Kinesis. Place your hands at shoulder height with the palms facing down. Extend the arms forward, then return to start position, controlling the movement. Keep your abs on nice and tight to stablise the body.
