Prof. Andrea Biscarini obtained the degree in physics in 1990 (110/110 summa cum laude) from the University of Perugia, and the Ph. D. degree in "Thermo-physical properties of materials" in 1994 from the University of L'Aquila. In 1995 he was awarded a research fellowship from the National Research Council (CNR). In 1997, he received the permanent position of researcher at the Engineering Faculty of Perugia University. Since 2006, he’s been Associate Professor at the Medicine Faculty of Perugia University.
Since 1999 Prof. Biscarini has been involved in teaching in engineering and medicine faculties, and postgraduate medical schools.
Prof. Biscarini is documented by more than 60 publications in peer-reviewed and indexed international journals and is mainly concerned with the following topics: a) innovative and smart materials for biomedical and environmental applications; b) biomechanics of physical exercise; c) innovative equipment for rehabilitation.
Since March 2003, Prof. Biscarini has been the coordinator of the “Applied Physics” Division within the “Laboratory of Movement and Sport Activities” of the University of Perugia. In 2005/2006 he is scientific coordinator of a relevant interest national research program (PRIN) funded by the Italian Research Ministry. Since 2009, he’s been in charge of the Section of “Medical, Environmental, and Epidemiological Physics” within the Department of “Surgical, Radiologic and Odontostomatologic Science” at the University of Perugia.
