Technogym and the Olympics
Technogym and the Olympics: the story continues. The company was also the exclusive Official Supplier for the latest Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The company has signed on as the exclusive Official Supplier also for the upcoming 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, covering the athletic preparation in all training centres.
This represented the company's sixth Olympic experience, after Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Turin 2006, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. At Rio, Technogym provided a complete range of machines, services and solutions for all athletes participating in the Games. Technogym equipped 15 training centres and areas along with the gym at the Olympic Village in Barra da Tijuca, an area spanning more than 2000 square metres equipped with the most innovative technologies. Technogym provided a total of around 1000 pieces of equipment, installing the mywellness digital platform to allow athletes to connect to their personal training programme directly on the equipment and on their personal smart devices. The company also provided a team of 50 professional trainers to manage the athletic training centres, support the athletes and provide a host of other related services (gym layout, installation and technical assistance).
Nerio Alessandri, President and founder of Technogym, said: “We are proud to have been chosen for the sixth time as official suppliers for the Olympic Games. This important recognition represents a victory for the entire Technogym team, and is an significant recommendation in terms of the level of innovation and quality that our products offer." "Rio 2016 also represents a unique social opportunity to promote wellness in Brazil and all over South America, and to increase the number of people making exercise a regular daily habit."
Technogym's twenty-year commitment to fostering wellness as a social opportunity has played a key role, beyond the innovative technologies that the company has put in place for athletes, in order to achieve this important result. In a society in which cardiovascular diseases - largely caused by sedentary and poor lifestyles - represent the leading cause of death, and where the number of overweight people worldwide has exceeded the number of malnourished people, major sporting events, which bring people together, have an important mission - to spread a healthy sporting culture among the population, and especially among young people.
