Roehampton: exclusive multi-sports club

Set among 100 acres of parkland in South West London on the edge of Richmond Park, Roehampton Club is an exclusive private members’ multi-sports club steeped in history and prestige. Since its original inception as a polo club in 1901, Roehampton Club has been at the heart of London society, with a history of influential clientele including members of the royal family and Winston Churchill.
Roehampton Club’s extensive sporting facilities include an award-winning 18-hole golf course, 30 tennis courts including ten grass courts, squash courts, four international standard croquet lawns, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, gym and fitness studios. From the 1950s, Roehampton Club has boasted a unique sporting heritage. Tennis legends Angela Mortimer, Christine Truman and Margaret Court all won Open Hard Court tiles at the club, whilst Wimbledon champion and British number one, Andy Murray, started winning grass court titles there from the age of fifteen. This year the Club is to host The GANT Championships, which will see players such as Goffin and Verdasco taking to the grass courts at this grandstand event.
As part of a significant investment to refurbish the Health Club, the gym and studios were redesigned to create a visually stunning space that reflected the premium positioning of this exclusive club, while also delivering innovative technology to enhance Members’ experience. To fit with the design-led space, Roehampton Club chose ARTIS cardio and strength equipment in Diamond Black. This state-of-the-art range boasts a frameless geometry with low, sweeping lines, which has been designed to complement an environment’s interior design.
Simon Baker, General Manager at Roehampton Club said:

Technogym’s top of the range ARTIS cardio and strength equipment was the obvious choice to fit with the club’s premium feel and experience. Not only are the products beautifully designed, but the digital content they offer is really engaging and motivating for our Members.

Members can use the large touchscreen display on ARTIS cardio equipment to enjoy virtual races, outdoor simulated environments, workout programmes and host of entertainment options including Netflix and BBC iPlayer. The UNITY Mini console on the strength equipment also acts as a virtual strength coach to provide exercise guidance and real-time biofeedback.
Simon Baker said:

When planning the refurbishment, we worked with Technogym to gain insight into the current market trends and latest innovations. This ensured that we created a facility that had broad appeal for the widening demographic of our member base. It is important that we provide a variety of products that offer great choice for our Members, as well as being effective and versatile tools for our personal trainers.

In light of this, Roehampton Club also selected key products from SKILL LINE, Technogym’s athletic performance training range. This includes SKILLROW and SKILLMILL.

Thanks to Technogym’s open cloud platform, MyWellness, members can now track all their physical activity across all of the club’s facilities, from the gym to swimming, tennis, golf and squash. By linking their account to third party apps, such as Strava and Runkeeper, they can also record activities outside the club.

mywellness truly is the ideal platform for Roehampton Club as it creates a seamless link between the many sports facilities we offer to our Members.
