2017 athletic & para athletic World Championships

The 2017 Athletic and Para Athletic World Championships have arrived in London’s Olympic Park this summer, bringing over 3,000 of the world’s top athletes to compete at London’s biggest sporting event since the 2012 Olympic Games.

ATHLETIC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

As suppliers to the last six editions of the Olympic Games, from Sydney 2000 to Rio 2016, the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and recently appointed by the Gold Coast for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Technogym is internationally recognised for setting the standard in athletic training. As official supplier to London 2017 Technogym once again demonstrates its commitment to being the training partner to athletes from all sporting disciplines.

Alongside a comprehensive selection of strength training equipment, the gyms are supplied with Technogym’s SKILL Line. This growing range of dedicated athletic performance training equipment has Technogym’s Olympic heritage at its heart having been developed in collaboration with Olympic athletes and academic research institutes.

SKILLROW

– the first indoor rowing solution designed to improve anaerobic power, aerobic capacity and neuromuscular abilities. Data tracking and connectivity continues to become increasingly important. The dedicated SKILLROW smartphone app allows users to enjoy a more motivating digital experience thanks to real-time biofeedback on performance metrics and a library of training programmes and videos from top coaches.

SKILLMILL

– a unique non-motorised functional training product allowing users to maximise their performance potential by taking advantage of the full speed and resistance spectrum. The MULTIDRIVE gear lever provides 0-10 levels of resistance to allow a variety of training options from resistance-free sprinting to a maximum resistance sled push. SKILLMILL has been proven to activate the posterior chain, in particular the glutes and hamstrings, significantly more than traditional treadmills.

A day at London 2017

8am - at the Olympic Park and the stadium is quiet and almost deserted but for the low buzz of activity from London 2017’s volunteers and organisers as they prepare for the day. However, turn the corner into the Community Track to find a rainbow of colour; a hive of activity. Athletes from all over the world, proudly wearing the colours of their country, warm up for the day’s events with track work and practice throws.

The Community Track gym is no different: SKILLMILL is being used for gentle cardio with minimal resistance or for targeted glute or hamstring activation by assuming a sled push position with maximum resistance; there’s a consistent swoosh of cold air as SKILLROW is used for full body warm ups or cool downs.

10am - the morning’s session of events begins and the atmosphere is at its peak, both in the Olympic Park – now come alive with thousands of excited spectators – and down at the Community Track and gym where the athletes wait in anticipation for their event to be called into the Stadium.
