Women and weights: discrediting a false myth

Raise your hand if you're a woman who has never shied away from strength training for fear of building unsightly muscle and gaining weight?
Or who for the same reason lifts only tiny weights, perhaps getting bored and achieving few results.
Do you also think that this kind of training will make you less feminine?

Women and weights: discrediting a false mythFind out why that's not true.
A "male" weight training program, with the right loads and number of reps, is one of the most effective and long-lasting things that women can do to get toned – and above all – harmonious bodies.

That's because it can deliver desirable results for both sexes, yet results that are also profoundly different because of the differences between male and female physiologies.

Not only do women start with much smaller musculature than men (from 18 to 20 kilos less lean mass, on average), but the typically male accumulation of muscle depends largely on testosterone, which men have 10 to 20 times more of than women.

Discover the advantages of weights
Because it is more dense than fat, muscle occupies five times less space than the same amount of fat by weight.
If you train with weights at 60% of your maximum (meaning the most weight you are able to lift only once), then your body will become slimmer, more athletic, and better defined.

What's more, by developing your muscles you'll easily be able to maintain your weight.
More muscles accelerate your metabolism: if you replace 5 kg of fatty mass with 5 kg of muscles, even while resting you'll burn between 500 to 900 more Kcal every day.

Enough with unfounded fears then, and above all, goodbye to training with weights that are too light, boring, and ineffective.

Bars, dumbbells, and strength training machines are your strongest allies in developing and maintaining the toned and ultra-feminine shape you've always dreamed of.
