After a final kick to the finish line at the Boston Marathon, athletes must screech to a halt in the pack of wobbling runners on the other side of the line. Amidst this rapid transition, runner’s may fall over, pass out, grapple for water, put hands on their heads as they breathe deeply and look for a path to keep their legs moving. Wheelchairs are on the sidelines to swoop up ailing runners, and medics look you in the eye to ensure you’re ok.
